Oak Springs Mountain Ranch
Welcome to Meat Goat Farming in the beautiful mountains of the Ozarks.
Our journey to discover the fascinating adventure of raising goats began about four years ago.
I'm proud to introduce you to our "New" Sire to be. This is "NOW SINBAD" He is 5 months old and is 100% registered with the American Boer Goat Association. He is very unique in his color and has great muscle mass for such a young age. He is a direct descendent of implanted embryos out of South Africa as shown on his registration papers.
He will be mated with 37 traditional boer goats and will hopefully have his first kids on the ground spring of 2012.
We are hoping for uniqueness in color and excellent muscle composition.
Bookmark this page and come back to see his kids.

Well, I was saying, raising goats has been in my mind for a long time. They are very enjoyable to work with and there is a great return on investment to boot!

Let me explain
The previous owners of our farm (family) sold the timber and regrowth took over the land where you couldn't even walk over it. I would work on clearing with the chain saw and bush hogging the land and I did accomplish to get some of the land under control, but there was just too much work that I became overwhelmed and quite frustrated and discouraged that I would never see our land cleared as we have dreamed.
That's when we began our research on meat goat farming. We researched how to buy, raise and care for goats, how much clearing can a goat accomplish; and also what is the demand and supply for meat goats in the United States.
Did you know:
There is a huge demand for goat meat in the United State.
Getting started with meat goat farming isn't as costly as other types of livestock.
Goats offer a quick return on investment.
Goats are easier to manage than other livestock.
Goats preferably forage on saplings and weeds and leave the grass for your cattle.
Goat meat is the healthiest red meat that men could possible eat.
And lastly, but not least, they are fun and quite intelligent.

Our first purchase was from a local farmer. We bought eleven boer doelings and later bought seven more. We began caring and observing their behavior and learning as much as possible by attending seminars, workshops and studying everything we could grasp.
Slowly, we began seeing the brush around the edges of our pastures begin to disappear. Then, we would walk down into the woods and see what we called "little paradises that had been cleared as high as the goats could reach. It was amazing!
Well, like I said, Our primary purpose for purchasing goats was to help clear the land, but then we began to see what our research was telling us.
There is definitely a huge market for meat goats!
